[Honor Academy. Chapel. May 24, 2007.]
born in Beijing, China, she is a 4th generation believer. she started 700 house churches herself, which have now multiplied to over 3,000.
she was imprisoned 3 times for the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST. her mom hand-copied the Bible and made it look like communist propaganda. she smuggled Bibles by exchanging bags under tables in hotel coffee shops.
had "Christmas parties" to preach the Gospel to people.
she preached the Gospel in prison - led her fellow prisoners in singing and dancing.
they thought she was crazy, on a scale of 1 to 5 [1 being the craziest] the said she was a '2' [2 Cor. 5:13]
daily rations in the prison consisted of 2 rolls [with intentionally placed mouse droppings], and "potato soup" [basically black water]. one day she was thinking about how hungry she and the other ladies in her cell were, and realized that the men prisoners across the room must be even more hungry. she wanted to show them the love of GOD. so they took the elastic from their socks to make slingshots, and shot food across the room to the men. they also sang hymns to minister the men and let them know it was because of the love of GOD that they were sharing their food.
one day from her prison cell, she saw young people being led outside to be executed. she cried and asked GOD how she could reach them with the Good News. she made a cross from the fabric of her clothes and held it out the window. they saw it and cried.
then she was taken into solitary confinement for 10 months where she had no physical freedom, but inwardly she had liberty.
she remembered that "busy is a good blessing" so she created discipline in her mind and thought back to every person she had ever met in her life and prayed for them.
on one occasion, in the middle of the night, the LORD let her hear the english prayers of thousands of American believers that had heard about her and were interceding on her behalf.
one time, she sweat in -30 degree weather while she could hear people were praying for warmth for her.
when it was announced that she had the death penalty, she thanked GOD and her captors, and asked to have her organs donated. they asked her what the last things she wanted to do before they killed her, and she said she wanted to sing hymns and pray. she sang "Amazing Grace." all the prison guards cried, and they changed her sentence to life in prison.
while she was in prison there were very important papers for her orphanage and orphans in a storage locker. the papers were needed for the orphanage to continue, and for the orphans to be adopted, but no one but her could get them. she prayed and prayed for GOD to do something. soon afterward, a man that worked at the storage place saw many, many fruit flies and traced them to her locker. when he opened it, he found a rotten asian pear [which Grace does not remember putting there], tons of fruit flies, and the papers. when he realized what they were, GOD moved in the man's heart, and he took a 17 hour train ride and hand delivered the papers to the orphanage. All the orphans then called fruit flies "angels from GOD."
today, Grace is no longer imprisoned and continues to boldly preach the Good News of JESUS CHRIST.
